The first thing that manufacturers of clip nuts need to understand when supplying is what is a rivet nut, and what is the difference between it and regular nuts? Pressure rivet nut, also known as rivet nut, self tightening nut, is a type of nut used on sheet metal or sheet metal, with a circular shape and one end with embossed teeth and guide grooves. Generally speaking, the aperture of the preset hole is slightly smaller than the embossed teeth of the riveting nut. As the name suggests, it is through pressure that the embossed teeth of the riveting nut are squeezed into the plate, causing plastic deformation of the periphery of the hole. The deformed object is squeezed into the guide groove, resulting in a locking effect.
The selection of materials for stainless steel clamp nuts is mainly considered from five aspects: firstly, the requirements for mechanical properties, especially strength, of the rivet nut material; 2、 Requirements for corrosion resistance of materials under operating conditions; 3、 The requirements of working temperature on the heat resistance performance (high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance) of materials; 4、 The requirements for material processing performance in terms of production technology; 5、 Other factors, such as weight, price, and procurement, need to be considered; After comprehensive consideration of these five aspects, the brand, variety, specifications, and material standards for selecting riveted nuts are determined.
The commonly used stainless steel clamp nut grades are 302, 303, 304, and 305, which are the so-called "18-8" type stainless steel grades. Both corrosion resistance and mechanical properties are similar. The starting point chosen is the production process method for riveted nuts, which depends on the size and shape of the riveted nuts, as well as the quantity produced.
Type 302 is used for screws and self tapping bolts that are machined.
In order to improve the cutting performance of 303 stainless steel, a small amount of sulfur is added to it, which is used to process rivet nuts using bar stock.
